FAQ's

SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP

  • What is permanent cosmetics?

Permanent cosmetics are a type of cosmetic tattooing (also known as micro-pigmentation or semi-permanent cosmetics).  The most common treatments are available for eyes, brows, lips. The effects available can range from a natural enhancement to subtly improve the facial features to the imitation of make-up.

  • What does the treatment involve?

An initial consultation will be used to discuss your requirements and help you decide on the result that will best suit you. Everything from your lifestyle, image, hair, skin tone and facial features will be taken into consideration. The team will then custom blend colours to perfectly match your requirements –their skill as artists coming to the fore during the design stage.

The treatment itself involves gently implanting microscopic particles of pigment into the reticular layer of skin.

  • Will it look natural?

Yes, the healed result will look very natural indeed. Take a look through the gallery images and you will see that the results can be tailored to whatever look, colour tone or strength best suits you.

  • How long will it last?

This varies from person to person because skin type, diet, genetics and environmental factors can all contribute to how long the pigments will be retained.  For instance, sunbed use and sun exposure have a bearing on pigment retention, but this can be prevented with proper protection.

As a guide, it could be anything between one to five years before a new treatment is required, although refresher colour boosts are recommended for maintenance during this time. Once the colour starts to change you will know that you are ready for your refresher colour boost.

We offer discounted colour boost rates from 6 – 18 months after the initial treatment. It is important to remember that permanent make-up is a “low”, not a “no” maintenance treatment.

  • What if I have medical issues?

A full assessment of your medical background will be made prior to the treatment. While there are some occasions when people are not suitable for permanent cosmetics –due to medical matters –this is fairly uncommon.

  • Can I drink alcohol prior to my treatment?

It is advised that you do not drink alcohol the night before, or on the day of, your treatment. This can affect pigment retention and cause bleeding.

  • Can I have my brows waxed, then have a brow treatment?

Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the treatment.

  • Do I have to have all my eyebrows shaved off?

No. We prefer you to keep your own brows - You don't even have to tweeze them before you come in as we like to work within your natural shape if possible.

  • Will my brows look very dark after the treatment?

You should be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the treatment. This will subside and become lighter as the skin heals. This process can take up to 10 days.

  • Are there any side effects?

Very rarely do clients experience any side effects after getting Anti-Wrinkle Injections. Mild swelling and or bruising may occur at the site of injection but it will subside within 48 hours. However, you may find (after forehead injections) you will have fewer headaches or migraines due to the muscle group being relaxed.

Yes, although where possible avoid it for the first few hours. When applying, ensure that you’re being gentle to avoid displacing the anti-wrinkle injections.

FAT DISSOLVING

For permanent results, it is vital to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but it is unlikely to have the fat return to that area after the recommended amount of sessions.

  • When does it start to work?

The treatment begins to work immediately, however, due to inflammation you may still look swollen for the first 4-6 weeks after treatment. It is advised that you wait the full 6 weeks to assess your results!

  • Is it painful?

The pain is minimal as it is administered under local anaesthesia which the fluid is infused with to minimise discomfort. While it may appear red or inflamed after the treatment most clients don’t experience pain.

  • How does it work?

Aqualyx is injected directly into the stubborn pocket of fat and works by breaking down fat cell membranes to liquefy the fat cell and destroy it. The lipids are then released into the lymphatic system and excreted.

  • Are there any side effects?

You may experience temporary side effects such as bruising, redness (irritation at the site of the injection) and swelling. Side effects usually subside within the first 2 weeks post-treatment.

PROFHILO

Profhilo improves skin texture, revitalises the natural production of collagen and elastin and hydrates. It affects the inner layer of skin known as the ‘dermis’. It is used to achieve radiant skin with smoother texture and improve firmness.

  • Is Profhilo filler?

No. However, it is an ‘injectable’ as it works under the skin. It consists of hyaluronic acid (which naturally occurs in the skin) to boost hydration and subsequently smoothen the appearance of fine line wrinkles.

FILLERS

  • Do filler injections hurt?

The injections are very bearable and you will still feel the effects of the numbing cream for a while after the procedure.

  • Are fillers reversible?

Yes, fillers are reversible. We have a service where you can book to have them dissolved if necessary.

  • Do fillers have any side effects ?

Dermal fillers do come with some side effects which tend to occur immediately after injection, but these are usually temporary and disappear within a few days. According to the FDA, normal side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, itching and tenderness at the injection site. The filler may also show up under the skin as tiny bumps. However, this often improves over time. You can gently massage with clean hands or the tongue.

  • How soon after my treatment can I get more?

It is recommended that you wait until the injection site is fully healed before you add more filler; so allow at least 2 weeks.

  • How long does swelling last post injections?

Both bruising and swelling are 100% normal following any dermal filler and yes, you are likely to experience either of these side effects if not both - but it’s nothing to worry about! Swelling and or bruising can last up to 2 weeks, generally, the site can heal quicker but the time it takes to heal depends on your body.

  • How long does filler last?

Your filler can last up to 12 months, it all depends on how your body reacts. Filler settles in layers in your lips. Most clients are likely to want to build 2-3 layers. We recommend (if you feel like your lips are still small) you visit 6-8 weeks after your first visit for a top-up and keep visiting every 6-8 weeks until you have the desired amount of layers - thereafter you can maintain your shape and volume with 1 visit every 6 months to a year!
